A Typical Yoga Class

Our classes are very engaging and very exciting!!!! Every class begins by learning about our minds and meditation. We learn how our minds work and how meditation can help us. We learn different meditation techniques specifically geared toward chilren. Once we have calmed our minds and bodies we get into the fun!! We typically start with sun salutations, and then we learn some new yoga poses or review ones we have learned in the past. After working on poses we move onto a fun group activity and a song that involves yoga poses. From this fast paced section of the class we slowly move into what we call "peaceful garden" or savasana. We picture ourselves in a peaceful garden that we create in our minds. Here the children lay for 2-3 minutes. From there we talk about karma and using yoga in our everyday lives. We end class by working on pranayama (control of breath) followed by our end of class song. Classes usually last 1 hour. We formulate special 30 minute classes for younger age groups from 3-5 years, as naturally, their attention span is not as long as a 6 or 10 year old.

I hope to spread the love of yoga and the benefits of meditation and mindfulness to any and all children who are willing to accept it into their minds and hearts. Namaste.
